1902 (30 Apr) “On Postal Service” registered envelope (embossed “Custom House, Wuhu” seal on flap) addressed to British Post Office Shanghai, showing Service des Postes circular cachet, unframed ‘R’ handstamp at left and Wuhu bilingual cds, reverse with black Shanghai Registered square circle of MA 2. Some slight ageing and mount marks on reverse. A rare envelope.
1902 (4 Sep) registered cover to Hanoi bearing combination franking with coiling Dragons 10c. on front and, on reverse 1c. (4) and 2c. each tied by Lungchow cds, together with Indo China 40c. tied double-ring Lannkchow cds with another clearer strike alongside, very fine Chinese registration handstamp top left. Envelope opened-out for display, a fine and scarce cover.
1902 (Feb. 28) registered envelope from the German Consulate in Canton to Berlin, “Kaiserlich Deutsches Konsulat/in Canton” paper seal on flap, bearing C.I.P. 5c salmon vertical pair, cancelled by R unframed handstamps, and 10c (3), cancelled by Canton bilingual cds, in combination with Hong Kong Chinese character surcharge 20c on 30c pair with I.P.O. framed tie-print (type 2) and Registered G.P.O. cds; the 5c. slightly oxidised and a few tones at left.
