1865 (Aug 11) envelope to Kensington, London endorsed “Via Marseilles” franked 2c. and 30c. each with blue ‘B62’ obliterator, London W Paid cds , the envelope being redirected from there without further charge and small crown over ‘R’ inspectors handstamp to confirm this, reverse with blue despatch and final London arrivals of SP 30; attractive cover.
1866 (FE 23) mourning envelope endorsed “via Marseilles” to Sonneberg, Germany franked 2c., 8c. and 30c. vermilion tied by B62 obliterators, both red ‘P.P.’ as well as framed PD which is overstruck with red French entry cds for mail from Suez, revere with originating cds and arrival cds. A fine three colour franking.

1886 (MR 5) 1d. pink stationery envelope uprated 1883-84 5d. green to British Legation, Pekin, China cancelled London S.W. ‘22’ duplex, reverse with Singapore/ B/ Hong Kong marine sorter. Without further cancels indicating carriage by diplomatic bag from Hong Kong; good condition.
1890 (DE 29) cover to Magdeburg, Germany franked 1882-96 Wmk Crown CA 5c. vertical pair at bottom left of envelope and cancelled by two B62 obliterators, Hong Kong index C cds above, arrival backstamp of 1.2.91; fine condition.
1891 (AU 18) registered internal cover franked with three 1891 7 cents on 10c. each tied by B62 obliterators and the left-hand example additionally by cds; some slight paper toning on envelope not detracting.
1892 (12 Juin) 5pf German reply postal stationery card, used from Austria to a ship at Hong Kong with full message, reverse of reply section with Singapore to Hong Kong marine sorter, used back to Dresden, Germany with the added Austrian stamp and German 5pf image with pen cancels, Hong Kong SP 2 index E despatch cds, arrival cds of 10/10. Some splitting to join otherwise fine and unusual.
1895 (MR 15) red surcharge 4 CENTS on 3c. postal stationery card used to Lima, Peru cancelled with index B cds, transits of San Francisco and New York plus large arrival cds of 12 Mayo. A fine and most unusual destination.
1898 (21 Apr) envelope to Vienna franked ICP 5c. (2) tied dark brownish HANKOW brownish dollar chop, routed via Hong Kong with pair 5c. tied cds, to right and blue Wien arrival; slight top right corner fault to envelope that has not been opened out.
1899 (AP23) Combination envelope to New Zealand franked on front HK 10c tied by SHANGHAI C cds an small boxed I.P.O. tieprint in blue, Tientsin cds alongside in same colour, endorsed 'via Torres Straits', on reverse franked CIP 10c green tied by blue grill and Hongkong cds with Shanghai large dollar chop alondside, Wellington arrival backstamp, fine
1899 (17 Aug) registered cover to Potsdam, Germany bearing Coiling Dragon values including $1 Goose tied by neat bilingual Amoy cds, the 5c. cancelled only by ‘R’ handstamp with registration handstamp to right, additionally franked for overseas postage with Hong Kong 10c. purple/red single and blocks of four and six with distinctive framed I.P.O. handstamps of Amoy, additionally cancelled in Hong Kong, arrival backstamp. Without backflap and some slight soiling not detracting from fine appearance, The $1 a rare stamp on cover.
1899 (30 Mar) picture postcard ‘Great Wall’ to Germany franked CIP coiling Dragon 4c. tied by incomplete Peking dollar Chop, Shanghai transit Dollar Chop alongside, pair of Hong Kong 2c. added and tied by distinctive small framed I.P.O. tie print, cancelled Shanghai cds with Hong Kong transit below and arrival cds at right. A good early example.
1899 (Sept. 20) registered picture postcard from Peking to Wiesbaden via Hong Kong, redirected to Munich bearing C.I.P. 4c and 5c pair, cancelled by Peking bilingual cds, Shanghai transit cds in combination with Hong Kong 2c (2) and 10c with I.P.O. framed tie-print (type 2) and Shanghai index C cds), with “R” unframed and “R” in circle handstamp adjacent; slight scuff on picture side otherwise a good example of this rare sized tie print.
1899 printed envelope to Lyon, France franked vertical pair of 20c on 30c grey-green with extra Chinese character handstamp, tied Hong Kong cds, straight-line PER ENGLISH MAIL handstamp and dated Siemssen & Co company handstamp, arrival backstamp.
1900 ‘4 CENTS’ black on’4 CENTS’ red on 3c. postal stationery card, reply section with ‘reply’ erased and used as an outward card to Nagasaki, Japan with Hong Kong cds, arrival cancel at centre. Vertical crease at right that does run almost invisibly through stamp design, with full message, a rare card, Schoenfeld 11a with question mark for ‘used’.
1901 (22 Aug) Registered combination cover from Tientsin to Germany (Alsace) franked 1898 CIP 20c on obverse + 10c pair on reverse tied by blue Tientsin cds's, additionally franked on front Hongkong 20/CENTS on 30c + 10c blue tied by Hongkong C AU 27 cds's, red 'R' and black 'R' in circle alongside
1901 (26 APR) Hong Kong 4c on 3c black surcharge outward section of reply card to Germany without any Chinese adhesives in combination but with bilingual cds and with red framed ‘IPO’ , stamp image also tied index C Hong Kong cds, arrival cds bottom left, with message. Fine and unusual. Proud records no covers like this existing.
1901 (OCT 10) Printed envelope to England franked QV 4c rose pair (1 with missing corner perf.) + single tied by Victoria HK cds, all 3 stamps with security hs's of SIEMSSEN & Co in violet, hooded London No 9 arrival bs and 3 intact seals, envelope affected by central spike, scarce.
1901 picture postcard entitled ‘Chinese Band’ to London from the H.M.S Astraea, dated “8 Nov 1901”, this ship sailing from Hong Kong on 9th November. Without despatch postal markings, franked Great Britain 1d lilac denoting that the card was sent by naval ship’s mailbag paid by 1d. military concessionary rate. London cds of DE 8 and Croydon arrival of same date. Postcard with misplaced text on reverse.
