1902 (Feb. 28) registered envelope from the German Consulate in Canton to Berlin, “Kaiserlich Deutsches Konsulat/in Canton” paper seal on flap, bearing C.I.P. 5c salmon vertical pair, cancelled by R unframed handstamps, and 10c (3), cancelled by Canton bilingual cds, in combination with Hong Kong Chinese character surcharge 20c on 30c pair with I.P.O. framed tie-print (type 2) and Registered G.P.O. cds; the 5c. slightly oxidised and a few tones at left.

1914 (23.12.) winter picture postcard addressed to a ship at Shanghai, China, redirected to Hong Kong and then on to Bangkok, with a series of cancels including Molde machine despatch, Chinese Shanghai cds and Shanghai B.P.O. of British Post Office together with violet bilingual oval of shipping company, a larger double oval handstamp of Horesen & Co/ Steamship Agents Hong Kong and final Bangkok arrival.
1915 (5.XI) cover from Netherlands to Shanghai, China, routed via Hong Kong where two blue 'OPENED BY CENSOR/Hong Kong' sealing labels at top and fine two-line 'RETURNED.NOT/TRANSMISSIBLE' handstamp at base applied; the envelope cut open for display.
1919 (MR 3) cover to United States endorsed "By First Mail" and bearing single franking 10c tied 'CANTON', index B cds. Reverse with Hong Kong transit of next day.
1930 (9 Oct) De La Rue composite artist’s essay for a permanent set, based on the 1923 Hong Kong design (at the suggestion of the Zanzibar authorities) with ‘postal scales’ printed by a semi-photographic process in deep green with hand-painted details in a lighter green, blank at right for an Arabic inscription. A superb essay, ex Griffith-Jones, one of two known, illustrated on p. 204 of his book.
1936 (28 FE) airmail cover endorsed “By Courtesy Air Flight R.A.F./ Singapore – Japan” from Victoria with two 10c. to Kobe, Japan to meet up with flight, Kobe Nippon cds at centre and red straight-line handstamp of the same Mar 6 1936 date, without any backstamps.
1937 incoming registered cover from Shipbourne, Kent bearing mixed Reign franking KGV and KEVIII, red manuscript”Unknown” and framed black handstamps RETOUR and INCONNU/ NOT KNOWN, reverse with two Hong Kong cds and Shipbourne and Tonbridge cancels of outward journey only.
1940 cover to Georgetown, Mass., USA bearing single franking 12c. tied Sandakan cds, endorsed “Via Hong Kong &/ Pacific”, Passed By Censor sealing tape tied on front and back ‘PASSED BY/ 19/ CENSOR/ NORTH BORNEO’, Victoria Hong Kong transit backstamp and triangular framed censor handstamp on front.
1940s illustrated envelope of 'THE HONG KONG MOTOR ACCESSORY CO LTD.' to New York with spark plug illustrated on front, reverse with enamel paint, wheel hub, Acme Paint and Oxidite Battery plus a radio.
1941 (21.II) cover to Hong Kong "British possession/ in St China", franked on reverse with four 1a tied hexagonal date stamps which is repeated on front, red censor tape that is tied on reverse with framed violet number handstamp, Victoria Hong Kong cds of same date, timed at 9am
1941 (5 Dec) airmail cover addressed to Hong Kong bearing single franking 9d. ‘Platypus’ tied Melbourne ‘BUY WAR SAVINGS CERTIFICATES’ machine slogan, censor handstamp at left tying tape, two-line violet NOT TRANSMISSIBLE/ SERVICE SUSPENDED handstamp at centre, reverse with red Dead Letter Office Sydney cds of 26.JA.42 and red ‘hand’ front and back. The Battle of Hong Kong started on 8th December so the mail became undeliverable whilst in transit.
British Post Offices in China 1919 (FE 14) cover to USA endorsed "By First Mail" and bearing 6c. and 10c. paying double rate, tied Canton index B cds. Reverse with Hong kong transit of next day.
GB 1899 (29 NOV) 2d stationery card to Hongkong routed via San Francisco (cds alongside) and New York, redirected back to London with HK 10c green cancelled B62, HK A JA 3 90 cds alongside, HK stamp with small defect, minute portion of bottom left corner of card missing.
HONG KONG : 1851 entire written from Canton to Georgetown, D.C., USA endorsed “Via Southampton” bearing central , somewhat faint Paid Crown Circle, to left of this two-line ‘SHIP LETTER/ VICTORIA-HONGKONG’, Red British PAID cds overstruck New-York 5cts cds, reverse with faint Hong Kong cancel; some oxidised reddish ink staining, an unusual combination of Ship Letter and Crown circle.
POW Stampless cover addressed to Malta endorsed 'c/o American Military Relief Mission' with violet boxed 'Internee mail free/of postage/Shanghai P.O.', Shanghai transit and Valetta arrival backstamps, endorsed 'From Sacred Heart Internment Camp' fair. Good destination.
