1744 (21 Jan) entire from France to Dublin, rated “2” in error, deleted and re-rated showing a very fine strikes of the horseshoe COUNTERFEIT/ 2 and RECHARGED alongside. Extremely rare handstamps, the latter unrecorded in this format, slightly rubbed horizontal filing crease, small corner fault clear of handstamps. An exceedingly rare and important item.
1762 (16 Aug) entire from Charleston, South Carolina to London, rated “5” which has been deleted and replaced with “11d”, manuscript “ship” top right and straight-line ‘CLONMELL’ below, reverse with straight-line ‘COUNTRY’ and arrival Bishopmark. A remarkable item , believed to be the only recorded ship letter from Clonmel which was further upstream from Dungarvan. Ex Roberts (1989)

1936 incoming airmail cover from Ireland, endorsed “Via Hong Kong” to a Poste Restante address at Canton, arrival backstamp, with series of red instructional handstamps UNCLAIMED, framed REBUT and ornate-framed Returned/ Letter Office/ Canton/ China, the second of these overstruck with violet UNDELIVERED FOR REASON STATED/ RETURN TO SENDER, red Canton backstamp; fine and attractive.
