No.3 octagonal maritime cancel, Metz arrival backstamp. The backflap is missing but still desirable as the latest recorded use of the red ‘R’.

Carried by the “Carmel” to Montevideo and thence by “Guienne” to Bordeaux.

1837 outer letter sheet to Bordeaux from Port Louis bearing oval POST OFFICE MAURITIUS handstamp, French maritime PAYS D'OUTREMER handstamp and Nantes transit cds, rated "7" decimes, arrival backstamp.
1843 Entire to Confolens bearing 'ALEXANDRIE * EGYPT' date stamp of the French Post Office and red boxed 'PAQUEBOTS DE LA MEDITERRANEE'. Rated '9' decimes on arrival. Routed via Malta where disinfected and LAZARETTO cachet applied on the reverse.
1873 stampless outer letter sheet to Genova bearing Buenos Aires company handstamp, rate handstamp '10' and framed 'F.*56' acountancy, somewhat unclear French octagonal maritime Buenos Aires date stamp, reverse with Paris transit and upon arrival 1L. Postage due applied and tied cds; fine condition.
1876 (24 Nov) entire to Marseille, endorsed “Per Bombay &/ Brindisi” franked 1872-73 15c. large figures and 25c. cancelled by Inde dotted lozenge, Inde Pondicherry cds to left, red French maritime Col. FR V. BRIND A. Mod between these, arrival backstamp; 15c with margin just touched at right, light vertical filing crease, fresh condition.

The stamps, as opposed to the stationery, are very rare on cover.
