1864 (9/4) envelope to London from Paramaribo whose blue date stamp appears at right, partly overstruck with XXIV Cents (!st Setting, Ist printing, perf 12) applied at Georgetown with an unclear ‘A03’ obliterator, red London paid to left of SP 26, reverse with Demarara transit and final arrival.
1864 pair of entires both franked 15c., the first 13 Ago from Messina to Trapani cancelled by Palermo-Malta Piroscafi Post Italiani keyhole date stamp with a fine strike alongside, the second of 6 Set from Siracusa to Genova cancelled Malta-Palermo Piroscafi Post Italiani. A fine pair of covers showing both directions of this scarce maritime date stamp.
1866 stampless entire to Pisaqua with three-line manuscript “franca” notice for no stamps available, partly overstruck by very fine dotted MEJILL handstamp in blue. Very fine condition. Mejillones remained a Peruvian port until lost in the Battle of Angamos to Chile in 1879. The name of the town literally means Mussels, the locals main food source.
1867 (2/8) envelope to Vevey, Switzerland, redirected to Interlaken franked 1863-64 2sk., 3sk., 4sk. and a pair of 8sk., an extremely rare 25sk. rate, tied by Christiana cds, reverse with blue Keil/ Hamburg tpo, Basel, Vevey, Ambuant Consulaire and Lausanne transits and arrival cds
1868 (26/6) envelope to Poste Restante, Montreux, Switzerland franked 1854-57 Dotting in Spandrels 8s. green (four margins but damaged top right corner) together with 1864-68 3s. red violet (3) tied by four fine three-ring ‘17’ numerals and Frederica cds in association, redirected on arrival to Belaggio, Lake Como, Italy with a wide variety of backstamps.
1869 cover to Poste Restante, Interlaken, Switzerland franked Arms perf 13 x 12½ 2s. (4th printing), 3s. (2nd printing) and 8s. (1st printing) at correct 13s. rate tied by ‘25’ three-ring numerals with Horsholm cds in association at base, manuscript “2” crossed out in blue crayon and “1 wf” added, reverse with N.SJ.JB.P.B. datestamp, three-line Kiel/ Hamburg tpo and arrival cancels. 1870 wrapper put into the British post at Buenos Ayres, addressed to Naples. On reverse LONDON transit with their accountancy mark 'GB/1F60c' on the obverse alongside the subsequent French handstamp 'F.56'. Rated 10 decimes on arrival and 1L postage due affixed.
1873 (24th Oct) entire to Genova annotated to be carried by the “Liguria”, this ship had left Buenos Aires on Sept 15th and passed through Gibraltar. The cover has been prepaid in Gibraltar by ½d. and 1d. Great Britain that remained uncancelled and not considered valid by the Italian Post Office who applied a 40c postage due charge. Fine and unusual.
1873 stampless outer letter sheet to Genova bearing Buenos Aires company handstamp, rate handstamp '10' and framed 'F.*56' acountancy, somewhat unclear French octagonal maritime Buenos Aires date stamp, reverse with Paris transit and upon arrival 1L. Postage due applied and tied cds; fine condition.
1876 'Royal Victoria Hotel, Nassau' printed illustrated envelope to New York franked 4d. 'chalon' tied cds, straight-line 'Due 3' handstamp alongside. The envelope slightly reduced at side but still a fine early advertising cover

1877 Official double weight outer letter sheet used from Ischia Di Castro to Civitavechia at concessionary 20c rate, franked 1866 Torino printing 2c block of ten cancelled by six ‘2896’ numerals, COMMUNE D’ISCHIA DI CASTRO circular framed handstamp, arrival backstamp.
1878 (31 Jul) cover to “Poste Restante” address at Ischl, Austria franked with Bucharest First Print 10b. horizontal strip of three at cross border rate tied Crajova cds, arrival backstamp; slightly reduced at top.
1878 10c. Official postal stationery card authorised for public use sent from NAPLES to Reggio in Calabria by sea and landed at Messina, Sicily, where struck with a boxed 'PIROSCAFI/POSTALI' handstamp with the third line missing (only recorded used at Messina). Then taken across the Messina Straits to Reggio on the mainland.
1878 entire to Mel, Belluno franked 10c. blue tied ‘187’ obliterator with Verona cds in association, the entire is endorsed in manuscript “affaire de State Civile”and bears two different Official handstamps, reverse with Venezia and Belluno transits and arrival cds. Fine quality strikes.

1879 outer letter sheet posted on board ship to Napoli franked 20c. orange-brown tied by framed PIROSCAFI/ POSTALI/ INTERNO handstamp, without any further indication of despatch but probably Palermo, arrival backstamps; fine and attractive.
1881 part wrapper to SPOLETO franked 2c. on 0,30 vertical strip of six and 2c. on 1,00 (4) tied unclear numeral obliterators; a fine strip of six, rare on cover.
