Egypt (Italian Post Office) 1875 stampless cover from Napoli to Alexandria charged at 80c. (double rate) folowing UPU regulation, with Postage Dues 10c. pair and a 60c. tied Alessndria D’Egitto Poste Italiane cds, repeated on reverse. Despite adopting the U.P.U.’s double rate, the Italians did not reduce the postage to the suggested 25c., eventually reducing to 30c in 1876. Cover illustrated page 88 of Peter Smith’s book.
