French Oceanic Settlements 1904 (3 Dec) registered part printed cover from Court Office to an addressee in one of the districts of the capital, franked with four 1903 10c on 40c. singles, the first and third stamps short tail to ‘1’ (type II) and the other two long tail (type I) tied Papeete cds. The addressee could not be located with manuscript “Parti Sans Laisser d’addresse” and therefore handstamped RETOUR/ A L’ENVOYEUR, a rare handstamp from Papeete.
