GREAT BRITAIN - Kent/Cross Post GREAT BRITAIN - Kent/Cross Post: 1841 Entire Maidstone to Rye, Sussex with very fine strike of the ornate Maidstone ‘P1’ Uniform Penny Post handstamp in red (KT 733). On front manuscript ‘X Post’ (i.e. not via London) with Maidstone datestamp OC/21/1841. Also on reverse good strike of the ‘Rye’ skeleton-type handstamp (SX 1077) only used in 1841 and this being the first example we have seen.
