ST VINCENT ST VINCENT: 1863 JA 8 A defective but important cover and one of only two recorded of the first type St Vincent OHMS with embossed arms of the colony on the flap. The envelope seems to have been used unofficially as a strip of paper was pasted over the OHMS legend and a 6d stamp paying the ½ oz. rate was affixed. This stamp (1862 6d. green) was subsequently cut out and replaced with a similar example. Date stamped with the small St Vincent cds for JY 8 (JY used in error for January).
