
JAMAICA: Incoming mail, 1845 (Oct 1): Long family letter from the 'Holland' correspondence, datelined 29 September, full of domestic information from a father in Salem, North Carolina to his son, a missionary in May Hill, Jamaica, bearing blue “SALEM ‘ N.C” dispatch CDs and PAID handstamp charged manuscript "12" to Philadelphia (which consisted of 10 c. for over 300 miles and incorrectly 2 c. for the ship). Landed with framed "Montego Bay / SHIP LETTER" handstamp and "MONTEGO / JAMAICA backstamp (Nov 5), charged "I/-" to May Hill via "SPANISH TOWN / JAMAICA" (Nov 13). Fine and rare, ex Dubois and Booth.
