BECHUANALAND BECHUANALAND: (De La Rue Overprints) 1911 (Nov 29) ‘Duty 4d.’ on 3d. Registered postal stationery envelope to Mafeking uprated with 1897/1903 2d. grey-green & carmine, 3d. purple on yellow and 1894 1s. dull green, all tied by ‘MOCHUDI / B.B.’ c.d.s’s in black, with Mafeking arrival c.d.s. of the same day. A rare usage - British Bechuanaland stamps remained valid in the Protectorate only, even after the formation of South Africa on 31 March 1910. Therefore the 1s. value remained valid for use to Mafeking but from Mafeking to Mochudi the stamp would not be valid.
