Australia New South Wales: 1874 (MY 16) cover to Dublin, Ireland, endorsed “via Galle” and franked by 6d. bright mauve and 1d. scarlet. A good example of the ‘Galle Penny’, a charge imposed by the NSW Post Office as mail directed via Galle had to transit Melbourne instead of directly from Sydney at this time.
