(Naval Mail) Two 1885 covers from Naval Cadet Edwrd A Baird on the 14 gun armoured ship HMS Triumph which served as Pacific flagship from January 1885 until December 1888 and was in Coquimbo, Chile from 3 May until 25th June. Each cover franked with four 1d. lilac and carried to London by naval bag where they were cancelled by the Foreign Section with ‘F’ in diamond killer. Ringwood receiving cancels of 27 May and 10 July.

1807 (13 Julio) entire with short receipt of goods notice to Chile bearing large red ‘CERTICACION/ A LIMA/ FRANCA’ handstamp, manuscript double crosses in each corner plus halfway between each corner. Manuscript accounting on reverse (1r Peru Inland rate, 1 ½r Sea Postage and 5r Registration), Scheindling expertisation.
1866 stampless entire to Pisaqua with three-line manuscript “franca” notice for no stamps available, partly overstruck by very fine dotted MEJILL handstamp in blue. Very fine condition. Mejillones remained a Peruvian port until lost in the Battle of Angamos to Chile in 1879. The name of the town literally means Mussels, the locals main food source.
1877 Envelope to Paris franked 1870-74 1 1/2d + 8d orange + 10d red-brown tied by 'C30' with CALPARAISO cds in association, endorsed 'Voie de Panama' alongside, faint arrival bs, London Paid transit cds in red. A rarity. Unique usage of 8d in Chile. Ex Glassco

1898 (4 Mrt) registered cover to Valparaiso, Chile franked Queen Wilhelmina 5c., 7½c. and 10c. each tied by Amsterdam cds, annotated “via anvers” in blue, Valparaiso label added at top, reverse with Anvers transit and arrival cds of 17 Abr.
