FRANCE: 1899 (22/3) Peace & Commerce 10c. stationery card to USA with advertising on reverse of horse and rider playing polo, entitled ‘In Gay Paree’ advertising Scarf makers in New York, a little creased.


FRANCE: 1899 15c. Postal stationery letter uprated Peace & Commerce 5c. (2 - 1 with small corner fault) cancelled Antibes, addressed to Belgium with Bruxelles arrival backstamp, interior taken up with multiple advertising including many hotels, photography, trains, wine, cognac, tea, carpets, perfume, typewriters, printers etc. Very scarce.


FRANCE: Ballon Monté 1870 (Nov 14): Entire to Moscow, Russia, franked with 80c. Napoleon laureated (Yv 32) tied by '24' Paris star lozenge, Paris cds alongside, boxed PD and blue manuscript ratings applied in transit. Fine and fresh. Cert. Brun (2017).

FRANCE: ca 1890 15c. stationery lettercard for the Fete de Janne d’Arc Orleans 1410-1431 numbered 226 from a print run of 2000, very fine mint, Emission de la Gazette Timbrologique. Very scarce in this condition.

FRANCE: Corsica 1877 (Feb 14): Outer letter sheet to Marseille bearing mixed issue franking 1871/75 Cérès 1c. olive-green and 2 c. red-brown vertical pair plus 1876/78 Sage 20 c. brown-lilac (Yv 50+51+67) tied by three "AACCO/BAT A MP" cds, MARSEILLE rival backstamp of the next day. 1 c. with pulled corner perf. otherwise fine exhibition item.


FRANCE: Corsica 1881 (Oct 15): Insured cover for 10'000 francs to French mainland franked Sage 25 c., 30 c. and pair of 5 f. (Yv 80+92+95) tied by AJACCIO cds, straight-line CHARGE handstamp at top and framed segmented handstamp on reverse in same colour, reverse also with French TPO and "MONT-DE-MARSAN / LANDES" arrival cds plus five complete wax seals. A fine and rare franking from Corsica.


FRANCE: French Colonies Benin 1894 (June 16): Cover to Marseille, franked with 1892 surcharges '01' on 5 c. pair and '40' on 15ic. tied "COTONOU BENIN" cds with information strike below, to left red octagonal maritime "LOANGO A MARSEILLE L.M. No. 2" datestamp. Light central vertical crease, a scarce cover.


FRANCE: French Levant Post Office in Gallipoli, Asia Minor 1854 (May 25): Entire to Marseille bearing italic 'Gallipoli' despatch and "SMYRNE TURQUIE" transit of the French Post Office, rated with handstruck '10' (décimes) on arrival (June 3). Fine


FRANCE: French Levant Post Offices in Bulgaria, 1865 (May 28): Outer letter sheet to Constantinople franked with Napoleon perforated 10 c. (4), 20 c. and 40 c. (Yv 21-23) tied by blue '5103' Gros Chiffres numeral with "VARNA TURQ. D'EUROPE" despatch cds in association, framed PD in same ink, arrival (May 29) backstamp. Some faults to stamps with two 10 c. with straight edge and one affected by vertical filing crease, nevertheless a fine and scarce franking

FRANCE: Maritime Mail 1871 (Feb 21): Envelope to Wales franked Napoleon laureated 10 c. and 20 c. (Yv 28+29) tied by British '723' numeral obliterator upon landing in Southampton, framed "SOUTHAMPTON / FRANCE MB" datestamp below, reverse with Tenby arrival cds (Feb 22). Very fine cover.

FRANCE: Peace and Commerce 1878 (11 MAI) Internal illustrated envelope franked P&C 15c. grey N under U tied by Paris cds celebrating a 39 anniversary dinner with inscription 'Vive Le Bon Bock' presumably relatig to beer, plenty of motifs including music with scores and a violin, art including a palette.

FRANCE: Peace and Commerce 1895 (21 JANV) mourning postage stationery 5c. envelope with black borders entitled ‘Hommage au President Martyr’ registered to England, with forwarding agent. Uprated 15c. + 30c., red London arrival hooded cds alongside, central horizontal crease affecting 30c., scarce usage.


FRANCE:1874 (Dec 25): Small envelope addressed to "Commandant la Frigate Française 'La Virginie' l'Ile Ste Helena" franked at 1 fr. rate with pair Cérès 10 c. and a 80 c. (Yv 58+57) tied by '1611' Gros Chiffres with "GAILLAC-DU-TARN" cds in association, routed via LONDON (Dec 28) and leavingSouthampton on 15 January aboard the "Nyanza", "ST. HELENA" arrival eds (Feb 4) on obverse. Pair with small faults, nevertheless fine and desirable.
