On the front COLOMBO UNPAID (DE 31), on reverse COLOMBO PAID in red (DEC 30) and GALLE UNPAID (JA 1), small faults to reverse. Very scarce destination.



FRANCE: 1850 (Oct 7): Entire to Carlshamn, Sweden franked 1849/50 25 c. blue pair (cut into at top and touched elsewhere) and two 1 fr. carmine (Yv 4+6), each tied by grill handstamp with CETTE despatch cds in association, annotated at top "franco Hamburg" and two framed oxidised red PF handstamps applied. reverse with PARIS transit, HAMBURG datestamp and double-ring "K.S. & N.P.A. HAMBURG" transit of the Royal Swedish-Norwegian Post Office, also obverse with Y STAD transit (Oct 18) cds. A standard entire to Sweden was 60 centimes up to 7.5 g., this entire franked at 250 c. would pay four times the rate plus 10 c., a very interesting First Issue cover, signed Calves, cert. Soluphil (1990)

INSUFF / G alongside , rated 5/3 in manuscript and French accountancy mark F/33 all on obverse, Paris and German red ‘Per Aachen’ backstamps, addressed to Grobin, pris de Libau, Courland which is Baltic state Latvia. Fine.

Very fine.

Napoleon laureated (Yv 32) tied by '3' Paris star lozenges, PARIS cds to left, boxed PD, "LONDON PAID" transit and "SPANISH TOWN" arrival alongside, KINGSTON backstamp (Jan 23). Ex Dubois. Note: Sir John Peter Grant was the first Governor under the Crown Colony Regime which lasted from 1866 until 1884 with the Governor having absolute power: He laid the foundations of the modern Jamaica by improving the legal system, creating local councils, an island Police force, local medical system and transferred the seat of Government from Spanish Town to Kingston.
