(Interrupted Mail) 1941 unclearly dated commercial cover to Berlin, the three stamps tied single violet despatch, transiting through New York (6-18), intercepted at Bermuda with two separate OPENED/ BY EXAMINER tape, numbers 3425 and 6005 in different spacing types, handstamped ‘RELEASED’ below wavy-lines, German language label at left, partly translating as ‘Withheld Mail cleared by Censor’. Four condemned covers are recorded by Peter Flynn with two PC90 labels of different numbers and that it is not certain if applied by different examiners in Bermuda or in transit in London after the war. Faint arrival backstamp.

1863 (31 Oct) entire from Puerto Cabello to Caracas franked 1861-62 coarse impression ½r. side marginal, just touched margin at lower left, bearing sender’s cachet at centre and put into the posts at La Guaira whose double-ring black date stamp ties the stamp. This is the only example recorded on cover of this cancellation in black. A fine and important cover, Ex. Heister, Brian Moorhouse Cert. 2011.
1865 (Oct 21) entire to Caracas from Valencia franked 1863-65 ½ real yellow (2), both with variable margins, both cancelled with a figure ‘8’ handstamp. A central paper stain, maybe old tape, otherwise good appearance.
1869 (Sep 1) entire from Cuidad Bolivar, Venezuela to Philadelphia with fine red Cuidad Bolivar Paid cds of British Post Office, routed via Trinidad where 1d. lake (SG 69) added and tied D22 obliterator with N.Y. Steamship 10 (Sep 21) alongside. Reverse with Trinidad transit of SP 5, St Thomas transit of SP 13 and arrival cds of Sep 21. Fine and rare, Exhibition piece. R.P.S.L Cert 2001.
