'2', trace of horizontal crease not really affecting franking, rare and very fine appearance.

THOMAS R equivalent alongside, addressed to Germany with Apolda arrival and St Thomas transit backstamps enhanced by REGISTERED LETTER on reverse. signed by postmaster, fine.


BULGARIA: 1896 (July 21): Unfranked cover from Varna to Shumen, bilingual VARNA despatch cds, taxed on arrival by 1895 Imperforated 30 on 50 st. surcharged Postage Due, tied by SHUMEN bilingual cds with different SHUMEN arrival backstamp. A very rare commercial usage of this imperforated adhesive.


BUSHIRE: 1888 or 1889 ON POSTAL SERVICE document from Bushire to Bombay Post Office handstamp boxed BUSHIRE/DT. PERSIAN GULF, believed unique, two Bombay arrival backstamps, fine.



BUSHIRE: 1915 (Sept 11): '2 Chahis' on 5 ch. stationery post card with type 1 "BUSHIRE / Under British Occupation."overprint additionally franked 3 ch. with type I overprint from position 4 tied by "BUSHIRE DEPART" cds. Addressed to France, forwarded to Breskens, Netherlands. Card is illustrated on reverse with picture of the ruins of Persepolis. The unused cards with the overprints are rare, used are huge rarities. Cert. Persiphila (2022) Persiphila PC 33, BU 3 = $ 17'500.

c.1860 printed circular from the ‘Canada Fur & Hat Company Montreal’ to Peterborough, franked by 1859 1c. pale rose, tied by ‘10’ numeral handstamp. Some separations along folds, still very attractive. It is rare for this handstamp to leave such a clear profile.

CANADA: BRITISH COLUMBIA & VANCOUVER ISLAND: 1864 (Jan 14): Registered cover to Glasgow, endorsed "Per Royal Mail Route" and bearing straight line REGISTERED and oval framed "POST OFFICE / PAID / VICTORIA VANCOUVER" handstamp, both in blue, franked United States 24c tied by target handstamp and by NEW YORK/ REGISTERED" tam, SAN FRANCISCO transit cds, bottom left, cursive Crown REGISTERED and London transit on obverse as well as Glasgow arrival backstamp. Envelope with defects on front and back but still an attractive example of rare registered mail.
