HONG KONG: 1865 (AU 11) yellow envelope to USA (reduced at left) franked 1863-71 2c + 4c +2695 wing margin + 8c pair + 24c all tied by B62 blue cancels with Hong Kong dispatch in the same colour, London Paid (6 OC) transit, US tax 5/CENTS and arrival all in red on obverse, stunning early franking.


HONG KONG: 1865 (MY 12) Envelope to England, readdressed to Ireland, endorsed ‘Via Marseille’, franked 1864 24c. green which paid the rate via Southampton, instead of 32c. via Marseille, hence handstamped in blue DEFICIENT POSTAGE / COLONY’S SHARE OFFINE, later erased and substituted ‘Short Paid Send Via S’ (Southampton), redirected from Dover (arrival backstamp) to Ireland with CURRAGH CAMP backstamp, some wear to the cover and adhesive, still a rare and interesting postal history item. HONG KONG: 1865 Hand illustrated envelope os 2 ladies in Kimonos to England franked QV 2c. brown + 30c. vermilion both cancelled B62 in blue (scarce). Some faults to rear but part strikes of SHANGHAE dispatch in blue, Hong Kong transit and Brighton arrival, adhesives with faults, especially where overlapping, still a highly attractive cover with a very scarce early illustration from this part of the world.

HONG KONG: 1874 (JY 7) Blue envelope to Ireland franked 1871 30c. mauve tied by Y1 killer addressed to Lord Lawrence, Howth Castle, Dublin, reverse with blue Yokohama A dispatch in blue, HONG KONG A (JY 16) transit, H & K PACT (AU 31) and arrival (AU 31), envelope slightly wrinkled, 30c. with trace of peripheral toning.


HONG KONG: 1878 (SP 9) Printed envelope to New York franked 1871 30c. = 1863-71 6c. tied by B62, additionally tied by red San Francisco transit (Oct 11), HONG KONG A dispatch alongside, rated 3 in red manuscript, New York arrival (Oct 18), seal on reverse inscribed MANILA, presumed origin in the Philippines. Fine and interesting.
