GREECE: Greek Post Offices in Turkey 1879 (June 7): Folded cover to Livorno, Italy franked with Large Hermes Head 30 l. brown from the Athens printing, tied by "VOLOS / (TORKIA)" cds matching VOLO company cachet in blue and boxed "PIROSCAFI / POSTALI / ITALIANI" handstamp alongside. A fine cover. Signed Emilio & Alberto Diena. Cert. Bolaffi (1968).



GRENADA: 1845 (Sept 23): Outer letter sheet addressed "To the Secretaries of the Wesleyan Missions / at the Centenary Hall and Mission House / Bishopsgate Street within / London", first rated "I/-", deleted and re-rated "2" showing a good strike of the very rare CARRIACOU straight-line handstamp in brownish ink, the reverse with two arrival datestamps (Oct 20) in red. Cert. RPS (2003). Note: The London proof book shows this marking as "CARRIACOU / SHIP LETTER" and was sent 10 Grenada in August of 1841, evidently it was more useful as a normal town name marking as no example with the "SHIP LETTER" portion is known, though one of three examples dated 1842 shows a trace of it establishing that it indeed was removed, this 1845 cover is the only other and thereby latest cover with this rare straight line marking of a total of four examples recorded. GRENADA: 1860 (April 8): Outer letter sheet to London pre paid with Great Britain 6 d. lilac showing a manuscript cancel, endorsement at top with date, red "LONDON PAID" at centre, reverse with small GRENADA cds. This must be one of the last letters to be franked this way as all British stamps were withdrawn on 1st May. SG Z4

GUADELOUPE: 1826 (June 2): Cover with "BASSE TERRE / GUADELOUPE" handstamp from the Captain of the Grand Duc de Riviere to a soldier on leave at Moule, "POINT A PITRE" transit at top, short military endorsement bottom left and fuller endorsement on reverse together with military handstamp. One of the finest and earliest recorded military letters from this Colony, on the album page of Edward Grabowski. A fine cover.

GUADELOUPE: Guadeloupe 1788 (Jan 12): Entire to Paris with straight-line "POINTE A PITRE" and cursive "COLONIES PAR NANTES" handstamps, reverse with "Se Lvee" distribution handstamp. Fine and scarce.


Guatemala 1897 3c. illustrated postal stationery card to Merida, Mexico, sent via Belize, British Honduras and New Orleans. Unclaimed and returned .
