INDIA FEUDATORY STATES - JAMMU & KASHMIR: 1890 (4 Dec) 1/2a. stationery entire envelope (with letter), registered from Kashmir to Amritsar, with registry box handstamp, franked on back with 1/4a. brown and 1a. bronze green Jammu & Kashmir locals, used in combination with India 1/2a. and 2a. Queen Victoria definitives, all tied by grid cancels, mostly intact wax seals and arrival pmk, entire roughly opened and reduced at right, otherwise fine.


INDIA MARITIME: 1890 (AP 1) Envelope to France franked India QV 1a. + 2a. tied by indistinct ‘UTT....’ squared circle, on reverse handstamped exceedingly rare intaglio SEA POST OFFICE E 25 AP, Bombay transit and Paris arrival alongside.


INDIA USED ABROAD IN PERSIA: 1885 (Nov 22): Envelope to France franked India QV 1 a. 6 p. sepia pair tied by BUSHIRE squared circle, "SEA POST OFFICE B" transit (Dec 4) and arrival datestamps, scarce usage of this adhesive in the Gulf, unlisted in SG.


India used in Singapore: 1860s printed envelope to Haverhill, Mass., USA bearing four colour franking tied by a little unclear 'B/172' cancels, red London transit below, '5 N.York Am Pkt date stamp and cursive '16 cents' accountancy,the reverse bearing good example of double oval 'FORWARDED BY BOUSTEAD & Co.' and Singapore date stamp;tiny piece of backflap missing, fine and rare.


INDOCHINA: 1865 (2 Nov) Small blue wrapper to Paris with ‘Corr. D. Arm. Cho-Len 2 Nov 65’ datestamp, red framed ‘PD’ handstamp, Saigon Nov. 3 backstamp, very fine and scarce, one of the finest Cho Len strikes we have encountered, signed Lamy.


INDOCHINA: 1880 (20 AOUT) Envelope to Paris franked French Colonies 1878-80 15c blue imperf (full but irregular margins) tied by octagonal CORR D’ARMEES SAIGON datestamps, military cachet on reverse, paris arrival.


INDOCHINA: 1902 (21 Nov) Registered envelope to ALGERIA franked Sage issue 5c + 20c + 30c tied by blue TONQUIN / HAI-PHONG cds with octagonal boxed ‘R’ in the same colour alongside, Marseille transit and Alger arrival backstamps, fine.

Internal undated 1d postal stationery wrapper to Trappist Mission, Dronk Vlei, cancelled by fine 'P.O.A./51' handstamp; no backstamps.

Internee Mail) 1943 (15.2.) stampless free envelope addressed to Vichy France bearing violet framed ‘SERVICES/ des belligerant internes’, Beyoglu Istanbul despatch, double-ring crescent moon and star circular handstamp, red Marine Francaise/ Service A La Mer ‘anchor’ illustrated handstamp, German censorship. Good condition.


IONIAN ISLANDS: 1833 (Oct 13) Part folded letter to France with ms dateline 'ITHACA Oct. 33', routed 'via Ancona' with ACONA s/l hs, very scarce JONIA in red, oval Posta Generale / CORFU ornate cancel, further hs 'AT' in red, 'TS' & boxed ITALIE PAR ANTIBES in black, CORFU dispatch, Marseille and disinfection marks on reverse

IONIAN ISLANDS: 1849 (4 12) entire sent within Greece with very fine Crowned Circle PAID AT/ZANTE in green with Zante scroll ds in the same colour alongside, various rate marks, tiny ink erosion to address panel, 2 light vertical creases, very attractive.

IRAN: 1881 25c green (pair + 2 singles) = 50c black, buff & orange all tied by violet YEZD cds's, with Bouschir 25/2 and Bombay (Mar 10) to cover back only with severe peripheral damage in places(insects?) affecting one single 25 (short perfs) and left hand 25c pair (defective), very unusual despite faults
