(Madeira) 1869 (2/10) fragile outer letter sheet to Nova Scotia, franked 1868 100r imperf (four good margins) and 1868-70 perforated 120r cancelled ‘51’ barred numerals, Funchal two-ring cds at centre with framed PD, endorsed “Via England” , red Paid London Ship Letter transit and ‘3d’ accountancy handstamp. Some reinforcements and repairs to cover.
(Madeira) 1873 envelope to New York, endorsed “via England” and franked vertical pair and horizontal pairs of 1870 80r. orange with thin 3mm high letters tied numeral obliterators with Funchal cds in association, framed PD and London PAID trnsit, reverse bearing New York Paid All entry cds; tear in front of envelope and part of bottom backflap missing, still a scarce and attractive multiple franking.
(Madeira) 1878 (30/10) 25r postal stationery card to Hoch Paleschken, Germany tied by ‘45’ barred numeral with Funchal date stamp at left, red London PAID transit at centre, with long cross-written message.
(Madeira) 1880 (3/8) envelope to Birkenhead bearing mixed issues franking 1875-76 15r brown (p.13½), 1879-80 10r green (p.13½), 1880 5r and two 25r lilac (p.13½) tied three Funchal datestamps, Southampton Ship Letter transit of AU 14, arrival backstamps; three of the stamps affixed over the top of the envelope with some resultant damage, large part of backflap missing. Still an attractive franking.
(Madeira) 1954 airmail parcel card to Stuttgart, Germany franked 1953 ‘Medieval Knight’ 1E.50, 2E., 5E. and 50E. single and block of eight tied Funchal cds, Encomendas Lisboa transit Frankfurt Main transit; vertical filing crease clear of stamps.
1768 thick entire with wine order to Madeira, date-lined as written from St Eustatia, carried privately without postal cancels; entire with faults with the right hand panel detached from the rest of entire; a rare early item.
1811 and 1850 entires to Madeira, the 1811 example from Boston with "40" manuscript rating on arrival and the 1850 example from Charlestown with "400" rate marking; light vertical filing creases, clean condition
