1901 King Chulalongkorn set of four postal stationery letters cards in exceedingly fresh unused condition. Seldom seen in this quality.


1901 picture postcard entitled ‘Chinese Band’ to London from the H.M.S Astraea, dated “8 Nov 1901”, this ship sailing from Hong Kong on 9th November. Without despatch postal markings, franked Great Britain 1d lilac denoting that the card was sent by naval ship’s mailbag paid by 1d. military concessionary rate. London cds of DE 8 and Croydon arrival of same date. Postcard with misplaced text on reverse.

1901 ‘Journal Officiel’ to Paris bearing bisected 10c. tied Djibouti cds in blue green with another strike on the banderole which itself is tied by the stamp and its cancel; fine and fresh condition.

Coiling Dragon tied by bilingual Foochow cds, in combination with Hong Kong 2c. green vertical pair tied by large bold framed I.P.O. handstamp and Victoria Hong Kong cds, top left with Aden transit (AU 25) and Zanzibar transit (1 SP), at bottom right Conakry Guinee Francaise arrival cds of 18 Sept; heavy central vertical filing fold, a remarkable destination.

1902 (1 Dec) AR registered cover to Strasbourg bearing single franking 75c. tied Fort de France Chargements cds, framed ‘R’ and ‘AR’ in same blue-green ink, arrival backstamp. A fine single franking.

1902 (1 July) registered cover to Paris franked 1892 25c. and 1900-01 15c. grey tied Affranchie Noumea cds, French octagonal maritime transit Ligne T Paq. Fr. No.4 date stamp, arrival backstamp.

1902 (11 Juin) cover to “Chef du Material de Guerre, Versailles” franked 15c. tied by COLON A ST NAZAIRE LA No.1 octagonal date stamp, arrival backstamp.


1902 (2 June) AR registered envelope to St Petersburg, Russia which has been opened-out for display, the front bears 1900-03 New Currency 2ch., 5ch., 10ch., 15ch. (2), 20ch. pair, the reverse with 2re pair and 1895-98 2nd printings 5p., 10p. horizontal strip of three and a 25p. plus red handstamped 5p. 2nd printing and 1899-1900 1p on 25p red overprinted 25p., each stamp cancelled Seoul cds, the front bears registration handstamp and framed ‘A R’ , reverse with Shanghai transit and arrival cds; a couple of light stains not detracting from a remarkable cover.


1902 (23.12.) 1d postal stationery card with photographic image adhered to reverse, titled ‘Wishing You/ A Merry Christmas’ and short message, to Berlin with despatch and arrival cancels.


1902 (26 Nov) registered picture postcard to Paris franked 5c. (2) and 25c. tied St. Louis cds, framed ‘R’ handtamp and maritime cancel at base, arrival cds at left. The image of ‘Hotel du Conseil General’; fine condition. Ex Grabowski.

1902 (29 Avril) registered cover to Jaffa, Palestine franked 1pi. on 25c. and pair 2pi. on 50c. tied Samsoun Turquie cds, reverse with transits of Constantinople - Galata Poste Francaise, Smyrne Turquie D'Asie and Beyrouth Syrie. Reverse also bears fine scallop seal of Banque Imperiale Ottomane.

1902 (3 MA) registered cover to Bombay franked five 1a tied 'DEVL ALI CAMP' cds with 'REGISTERED/DEOLALICAMP' handstamp, arrival backstamp; some slight faults.


1902 (30 Apr) “On Postal Service” registered envelope (embossed “Custom House, Wuhu” seal on flap) addressed to British Post Office Shanghai, showing Service des Postes circular cachet, unframed ‘R’ handstamp at left and Wuhu bilingual cds, reverse with black Shanghai Registered square circle of MA 2. Some slight ageing and mount marks on reverse. A rare envelope.

1902 (30 Juin) unpaid envelope sent internally to soldier with triangular framed ‘T’ handstamp and blue manuscript “0.30” charge and horizontal strip of three 10c. postage dues apllied, with large margins and tied Diego Suarez cds; signed Calves. Ex Grabowski.
