(2, one with three margins) plus 1864/68 3 sk. vertical pair, each cancelled by three-ring '78' numeral, NORDINGBORG despatch cds below, at top left framed 'Talt' handstamp, three fine Crown black wax seals of the "NORDINGBORG POSTCONTROL" on reverse.



DENMARK: Faroe Islands 1880c (June 3): Incoming small envelope from Great Britain to Tveraae, Faroe Islands franked GB 2½ d. lilac rosy mauve plate 11 (Gi = 141), lettered CA, cancelled on arrival with single circle THORSHAVN datestamp with further strike on reverse. DOMINICA: 1883 (July 25): Registered 'circular' envelope to Scotland franked with 1882 bisect '½' in red on 1 d. lilac in four severed pairs consisting of stamps from right and left, tied by 'A07' obliterators, DOMINICA cds at base. The envelope was originally addressed and unsealed with flap tucked in to Edinburgh whose arrival cds appears on reverse and re-addressed to London and sealed, the old address carefully removed and new one added. Fine and fresh. SG 11


DUTCH WEST INDIES: 1788 Folded entire with full content dates ‘St Martin May 28 1788’, addressed to ‘Mr Thomas White, Berwick’, forwaded by British merchant vessel ‘Edwards’, handed over to the Lancaster post office where it recieved a fine strike of the black straight-line ‘LANCASTER’, forwarded to Berwick and charged ‘6’ on delivery. Some transportation trace and normal ageing, a fascinating and very early document from the Waite correspondence. Note: Interesting content where the sender writes to his brother, mentioning “this letter is be the ship Edwards, Capt. Damien who sails for Lancaster some time tomorrow. There will be another conveyance in a short time, a brig belonging to Capt. James Jacksen will depart from this island in ten or twelve days by which vessel i should write...”


Early 1940s airmail cover to USA franked at 2r.15a.6p. rate with adhesives tied by Bahrain Air Persian Gulf cds, censored en route and showing on front routing handstamp ‘Via B.O.A.C. to Aucklnd/ Pan American Airways/ to Sanfrancisco’, without arrival cancels.


ECUADOR: 1894 President ROCAFUERTE 2c. brown imprinted on 1894 postal stationery sent to MADEIRA, uprated 1c. green fiscal both cancelled UPU Guayaquil cds’s with Philatelic full message on reverse signed ‘Samuel Koppel, Consul of Dominican Republic, Lisboa transit and Funchal arrival backstamps, fine, rare, possibly unique usage.

Egypt (British Post Offices) 1841 entire to Malta endorsed to travel by French ship, bearing fine Alexandria double-arc date stamp, two diagonal disinfection slits with unclear cachet on front, arrival backstamp.


EGYPT: 1800 (Oct 12) Folded letter sheet from Cairo to Samunud with ms dateline '20 Vendemiaire, year 9'. Hs straight line LE CAIRE in black, rare and very fine.
