GREAT BRITAIN: 1874 (Aug 15): Large commercial solicitor's wrapper sent registered to New York "per Cunard Stmr" franked with 1865/67 4 d. deep vermillion plate 13 (2), 1867/80 2 s. blue with small corner fault, 1867/83 5 s. rose wmk Maltese Cross plate 1 lettered FE plus pair letterd GD-GE, plus 1873/80 1 s. green plate 9, each cancelled by '466' obliterators, manuscript "Registered 15/8/74" with double circle "REGISTERED LIVERPOOL" despatch cds in red, the reverse with three wax seals and the pink ribbon still attached. Central vertical crease well away from the franking, nevertheless a fine, desirable, and most unusual high four-colour franking, ex H.O. Fraser and E. Klempka. SG 95+118+126+150

Pair in combination with 1870-79 1/2d + 1881 (13 JA) registered 2d stationery envelop franked 2 singles in combination with 1880 1/2d green (small corner fault to env.) all cancelled '080' 3VS numeral (Clun), previously only known from proof book entries.
