(Mount Athos) 1901 (11 IV) money letter from Sasovo, Tambov Govt with 6r declared value with a confirming manuscript “6” on front, rectangular violet O.A.I.P. handstamp with red manuscript numbers (Odessko – Afonskoye Illinskoye Podvorye = Odessa Agency for Ilinsky Skete on Mt Athos), the monastery added manuscript arrival date of April 30 and answered on June 9th, five fine wax seals; some slight discolouring from wax seals
(Ship Mail) 1865 entire to Piraeus, Greece, endorsed in Russian “Via Odessa Steamship” franked with three 10k. (some trimmed perfs) tied by Taganrog 15 Apr 65 cds with circular FRANCO handstamp alongside, disinfected in Odessa with fumigation slits and released 21 Apr, “50” in red crayon denoting charge of 50 lepta for French ship letter fee with Greece Large Hermes Heads 10l. and 40l. applied and tied by Piraeus cds, a very attractive combination franking, Ex Dr. Casey.
1860 entire from Odessa with company chop bottom left, forwarded to Constantinople with agents handstamp on reverse, addressed to Malta and carried on French ship ‘Borysthene’ with cds top right, at double rate 2/- on arrival manuscript charge, arrival backstamp.
1867 entire from Odessa with fine company chop bottom left, forwarded to Constantinople with agents handstamp at top, addressed to Palermo, sicily and carried on French ship with octagonal Constantinople P.Fr. U No.3, framed Italian PIROSCAFI/POSTALI/FRANCESI handstamp, reverse with Messina transit and arrival date stamps.
1874 entire to Odessa franked 1868 3k. and 1872-90 1k. brown (2 shades) on horizontal laid paper (some perfs faults) and 5k. vertical laid paper, from Constantinople with company cachet at base, the stamps themselves cancelled on arrival only; an attractive franking.
Unclearly dated 1890s cover from Odessa to Chio, Turquie franked 10k. cancelled upon arrival by double oval ROPIT Agent V Khiosye, which is repeated to left. With letter. A couple of light stains at top otherwise good condition, scarce.
