(Missionary Mail) 1843 outer letter sheet to Wesleyan Missions House, London, docketed as from George Parsonson, St Mary’s, 9th May 1843 (received 27 June), reverse shows a red London arrival overstriking a straight-line SHIP LETTER, carried by the “Patriot” that arrived at Dartmouth on 26th, the mail presumably in a closed bag that was sent up to London and sorted there, the front showing “8”d charge erased and ½oz to 1oz charge of “1/4” . A fine early item.

Ex Besancon.
1883 (MR 21) cover to Coalville, England bearing single franking perforated 4d. tied by two Gambia Paid cds, a further strike bottom left and manuscript "3" accountancy, Paid Liverpool entry cds, reverse with Birmingham transit and arrival cds; slight fault towards top right of stamp.
1886 'Penny Halfpenny' grey postal stationery card to England cancelled "GAMBIA PAID" code C cds with another strike below, with message requesting the sending of various vegetable seeds.

1919 (2 SP) registered picture postcard to Amsterdam franked on front with 1912-22 ½d., 1d. and 2d. tied by two Bathurst cds, arrival cancel at base of 9.X., franked at registered rate and endorsed “Recommande” but without postal markings for such.
1935 (30 NO) Zeppelin 16th South American Flight, 3rd Pendel Flight, Dr Hugo Eckener postcard from Bathurst to Recife, Brazil addressed to crew member Albert Thasler, 2.XII arrival. Very few items recorded from Gambia.
1936 (31 MR) internal stampless O.H.M.S. envelope addressed to "Inland W.W. Dept./ Bathurst" bearing T.P.O. No.2 River Gambia cds with unclear year; some staining down a central vertical fold.
1937 3d. registered postal stationery envelope, size G, overprinted SPECIMEN diagonally on front. This envelope is only known overprinted specimen; fine condition.
