(Accountancy) 1830 outer letter sheet to London struck with an oval-framed GALICIA/ CORUNA handstamp, a two-line ESPAGNE PAR/ St. JEAN-DE-LUZ’ French entry handstamp and annotated “Via Calais”. On arrival the front struck with dotted framed ‘Oz at 8s/8d per Oz’ handstamp applied at the London Foreign Branch. Light vertical filing creases at sides.
(Accountancy) 1869 cover from Roma to St Nicolas, Belgium bearing manuscript charge at centre together with despatch cds, to right blue 4 E. PONT. 4/St Michel applied in transit at Paris together with scarce accountancy handstamp ‘F/25’, reverse with France Midi Belgian entry tpo and arrival cds; some slight ageing.
(Bremen transit mail) 1817 entire from Leeds, England to Bolzano, Italy, endorsed "via Hambrg" but instead routed via Bremen with straight-line E.P.B. handstamp, red desptach date stamp and red manuscript rates on front; light horizontal filing crease at top, a scarce routing handstamp.
1786 entire from Faro to Gand, Belgium sent via the Spanish Postal Agent in Cadiz and struck with the straight-line PORTUGAL handstamp, manuscript "13" rate mark. An early example of this rare marking and believed to be the only recorded example on a letter written outside of Lisbon.
1824 entire to Bordeaux bearing cursive despatch date stamp, ‘C.P.R.5.’ accountancy handstamp, incorrect French framed entry ‘BAVIERE/ PAR/ FORBACH’ applied and overstruck by FORBACH straight-line handstamp, the correct French entry handstamp applied below. An unusual item.
1834 long entire to Switzerland bearing straight-line MALTA POST OFFICE handstamp overstruck with Marseille transit and to right framed PAYS D’OUTREMER and with fine strike of the very rare oval-framed 2s.; fresh condition.
1841 entire to Vevey, Switzerland cancelled on reverse French language, unframed St. Petersbourg circular handstamp, FRANCO/ AUS RUSSLAND transit applied in Berlin whose cds is on reverse, arrival backstamp. An extremely rare St Petersburg postmark, not recorded in Dobin. Baillie & Peel 1F, the three examples they record are all to Bordeaux. A rarity.
1850 cover from Derby to Corfu, endorsed "Via Ostend Vienne Trieste" bearing despatch cds, London transit, framed Aus England/ per Aachen franco handstamp and vertical accountancy handstamp 'd/53/8', disinfected with three slits; fine and scarce.
1856 entire to Vienna, Austria, franked pair 4d. on blue paper, watermark medium garter, tied '634' numeral obliterators, red Aus England Per Aachen Franco date stamp, reverse with blue OLDBURY cds, Birmingham and London transits and arrival cds.
1857 (25-2) outer letter sheet to Paris franked 1856-58 25r. with good large margins cancelled ‘1’ in horizontal bars with framed Lisboa date stamp to left, French rate handstamp and entry cds, reverse with Pyrennes A Paris tpo and arrival cds.
1863 (OC 2) outer letter sheet to St Petersburg, Russia, franked 1862-64 4d. and 6d. tied by Liverpool ‘466’ duplex date stamp, red circular-framed PD and red Aus England Per Aachen Franco handstamp, blue manuscript accountancy, without backstamps.
1863 copy entire that originated in Copenhagen, from London, endorsed “via Belgium” to Pernau, Estonia franked 4d. and 6d. tied by barred ‘12’ numeral and by red Aus England Per Aachen * Franco date stamp, reverse with octagonal London date stamp, Cyrillic Riga transit and arrival cds.
