1838 Entire posted from Odessa to Italy, disinfected at Odessa quarantine station bearing rectangular single-line frame with rounded corners “OCHISHCHENO / PRI/ OTSEPLENII/G.ODESSY”; second disinfection at Brody indicated by red manuscript legend: “Netto di fuora da Brody 17/2 838”. Alongside ODESSA with palmet double circle date stamps (Dobin 1.02). Arrival “2. Marzo” in red date handstamp
1841 entire to Vevey, Switzerland cancelled on reverse French language, unframed St. Petersbourg circular handstamp, FRANCO/ AUS RUSSLAND transit applied in Berlin whose cds is on reverse, arrival backstamp. An extremely rare St Petersburg postmark, not recorded in Dobin. Baillie & Peel 1F, the three examples they record are all to Bordeaux. A rarity.

Reverse also bears straight line "Novoselitsy" (Bessarabia) @Otpr@ (dispatched) in blue-green (Dobin type 1.02). Obverse bears red boxed 'AUS RUSSLAND'and rated '14' decimes on arrival
