A rare item, Hopkins records a piece of similar date but not a cover.
1855 outer letter sheet to London bearing large blue '6' indicating the sixpence rate was unpaid, reverse with three-line 'GIBRALTAR/3 NO 1855/SHIP LETTER' overstruck with framed Liverpool Ship five-line date stamp, red arrival backstamp; ex Osborn.
1866 entire to Philadelphia, USA franked 1864 10c. and three 15c. (one defective) tied by framed FRANCO handstamps, Rotterdam dispatch and London transit cds both in red, Philadelphia Br. PKt arrival and handstamped ‘5’ accountancy, endorsed at top “By the Steamer Leaving Liverpool 7 April”; ironed out filing creases, attractive.
1869 Officer’s Letter to Dublin, Ireland franked with Great Britain 1858-79 1d red, plate 71, HA-HB, IA-IB, GA and GB tied by six ‘466’ obliterators applied at Liverpool, endorsed “No 15/ Officers Letter/ HMS Jaseur”, Liverpool Paid cds, part of reverse of envelope missing but still showing note “send me some stamps/ mine are all gone”. Despite the fault a fine looking, rare item, ex Sacher.
1890 cover to Switzerland, franked 4d tied unclear numeral handstamp, 'ACCRA' date stamp in association, 'PAID/LIVERPOOL/BR PACKET' transit, reverse with arrival cancels; small surface faults in Accra cancel otherwise good condition.
1893 Great Britain overprinted 1d postal stationery card to Liverpool, with message, written from Dejimna, not cancelled on despatch but on arrival at Liverpool with '466' obliterator over stamp image, red 'PAID/LIVERPOOL' cds at left.
1894 (Dec) Royal Niger Company printed linen-backed envelope to London showing fair strike of Akassa oval handstamp and bearing Great Britain 1883-84 2/6d. lilac, Jubilee 5d. and a 10d. pair, all placed upside down and cancelled with Paid Liverpool Br. Packet cds; the 5d. with small fault and some wear to envelope. A rare high value franking for an 11oz. Letter.
1895 1d postal stationery card to Manchester written from Warrea, uncancelled on despatch, noticed in transit at Liverpool where ‘466’ obliterator applied, red Paid Liverpool Br Packet date stamp; some slight tone spotting.
