1898 (14.XI.) parcel card to Copenhagen franked ‘Standing Helvetia’ 50c. and 1f. tied by Zurich Fahrp. Aufgabe R III cds, reverse with Hamburg transit and arrival cancel, repeated on front with instructional handstamps. A couple of pinholes at left.


1898 (15 Juil) 25c. postal stationery envelope, 146 x 112mm, used to Melbourne, Australia tied double ring Papeete Taiti cds with another clear cds alongside, reverse with fine strike M.O. & S.B St. Kilda Ry Stn of AU 6.


1898 (18 FEB) Envelope franked 2c orange-buff (2) tied on reverse by HANKOW large dollar chop, Tientsin 28 Feb arrival dollar chop alongside.


1898 (2 Feb) “On Postal Service” envelope (embossed “Custom House, Chefoo” seal on flap) addressed to Wuhu, showing Service des Postes circular cachet and Chefoo dollar chop, reverse with black Shanghai (4.2.) and brown Wuhu (6.2.) dollar chops. Envelope slightly reduced at top. A rare stampless inter office item.


1898 (21 Apr) envelope to Vienna franked ICP 5c. (2) tied dark brownish HANKOW brownish dollar chop, routed via Hong Kong with pair 5c. tied cds, to right and blue Wien arrival; slight top right corner fault to envelope that has not been opened out.


1898 (24 Oct) 1 Penny carmine and green card entitled Greeting from South Africa with image of Aapies River near Pretoria, used to Dresden; fine condition.

1898 (25 May) registered cover to Greenock, Scotland franked 1878-99 4d. and 6d. perf 11 x 11½ plus 1893 5d. perf 11 x 10 tied Suva cds, oval framed ‘R’ at left and manuscript number, oval REGISTERED LIVERPOOL at centre, part arrival backstamp; some slight perf tonings, generally fine appearance.


1898 (26 JY) registered cover to Birmingham, franked first overprints 20c. and 25c. tied Casablanca duplex, the cancel showing inverted month ‘JY’ , London transit below, reverse with Tangier transit and arrival; fine and clean condition.

1898 (26 Set) cover to Guatemala City bearing single franking ‘6 Centavos’ on 20c. tied Siquinana duplex, Escuinta transit and arrival backstamp with scoroll framed CARTERO NO. 3 alongside.
