1920 (19.II) registered envelope to Warszawa franked 50f. (3), 1m.50 and 2.50 (2) tied by three POCZTA POLSKA KONSTANTYNOPOL cds and at lest showing violet registration handstamp KONSTANTYNOPOL, arrival backstamp with incorrect year in date. Fine and rare.
1922 (1.3.) registered cover from Constantinople to Magnissa, Greece bearing on reverse single franking Merson 15pi. on 1f. tied French Post Office cds, transit Tresor et Postes 528 (of Smyrna), Greek Smyrna transit of 22 Feb and blue arrival cds of 24th where bilingually inscribed “Retour”, Greek Smyrna cds of 28th and a strip of selvedge applied and tied by two further strikes, return cancels of Constantinople and Galata; slightly reduced at side.
1922 (5.9.) registered express cover to Braunschweig, Germany franked pair ‘PIASTRE/ 7,50’ on 60c. top right whilst at bottom left 15pi on 1,20 Express stamp (issued in August 1922), tied Poste Italiane Constantinopoli date stamps, an express label has been added whilst in transit in Germany, reverse with Frankfurt transits and arrival cds. 1941 (5 Dec) airmail cover addressed to Hong Kong bearing single franking 9d. ‘Platypus’ tied Melbourne ‘BUY WAR SAVINGS CERTIFICATES’ machine slogan, censor handstamp at left tying tape, two-line violet NOT TRANSMISSIBLE/ SERVICE SUSPENDED handstamp at centre, reverse with red Dead Letter Office Sydney cds of 26.JA.42 and red ‘hand’ front and back. The Battle of Hong Kong started on 8th December so the mail became undeliverable whilst in transit.
1945 registered stationery envelope uprated with two 3a., insured for Rs. 100 to Bombay, British Legation (Nepal) cds, front bearing two-line registration handstamp.
ca. 1800 entire front to Chiloe handstamped with red framed MENDOSA, rated “3” in manuscript, crossed out and “4½“ added at right; a few pinholes otherwise fresh condition.
GREECE 1929 registered airmail cover from Argentinian Consul General at Athens to his counterpart at Rotterdam, Holland, franked on reverse pairs of 40 lepts, 2 drachma and two pairs of 25 drachma. The envelope is a reused, refolded cover from Argentina.
