(Poland) 1914 (22.2.) insured cover, for 5,000 roubles from Warsaw to St Petersburg, between Electrification Departments, franked 7 roubles 74 kopecs, the franking including 2r. Romanov, reverse with remains of five wax seals and Postal Wagon 2 transit; two vertical filing creases clear of stamps.
(Porto Rico) 1874 (FE 12) outer letter sheet to Cadiz franked 1867-80 10d. horizontal strip of three, LF-LH, plate 1 cancelled by two ‘C61’ obliterators, red Porto-Rico Paid cds, oval-framed ‘P.D’ and ‘4d’ accountancy handstamp, London transit at right and Cadiz arrival backstamp; some slight splitting in the lettersheet but mostly a fine example of a rare franking for a double weight letter. Philatelic foundation and Sismondo Certificates.
(Postage Due) 1930 (JY 1) incoming underpaid cover from Kampala, Uganda to Poste Restante, underfranked with 1c., 'T' in circle and plain 'T' tax mark alongside, deficiency of 14 Uganda cents calculated as 35 gold centimes (=21 Zanzibar cents) paid by 1926-30 21c. black/orange postage due tied cds, subsequently marked with red m/s cross and initials, and charged "Charges Paid" below, the same ink deleting Tax marks and used fro the return address to Kampala. Philatelic (with the co-operation of the Zanzibar postmaster), still scarce and very fine. Ex Griffith-Jones, page 462 of his book.
(Postage Due) 1931 (Dec 10) unpaid ‘Cutress’ cover from London with Post Early for Christmas slogan cancel, blue “T.30” to indicate double deficiency of 1 ½d. x 2 (= 30 gold centimes), arrival backstamp of 30 DE, with 1930-33 6c. black/yellow and 12c. black/bue applied on face and tied by Zanzibar cds of following day. Fine and scarce. Ex Griffith-Jones.
(Puerto Rico) 1876 (FE 25) entire to Bastia, Corsica, redirected within France, franked Line Engraved 1½d. and 2d. together with 1867-80 10d., plate 1, EA, the 1d. cancelled by ‘C85’ obliterators, Mayaguez Porto Rico Paid cds of British Post Office below, internal French cancels; slight faults to envelope.
(Puerto Rico) 1876 (JY 23) entire to Santander, Spain, endorsed “Via Inga.” franked Line Engraved ½d. (damaged corner), 1d. and 2d. together with 1867-80 10d., plate 1, TC, the 1d. tied by Mayaguez Porto Rico Paid cds of British Post Office. As this cancel only tied the 1d. four ‘C51’ obliterators were applied in transit at St Thomas, Danish West Indies, London transit at centre, arrival backstamp; vertical filing crease affecting stamps not detracting.
(Puerto Rico) 1918 registered envelope to La Romana, Dominican Republic, franked U.S. 1c. and 12c. tied by unclear black Mayaguez date stamp, reverse with two violet cds of Set 27 one that has been overlaid by censor tape, maybe kept by censor as next backstamp is from La Romana date Oct 2 1918, front with blue m/s “no reclamado”, various registration handstamps and final return Mayauezcds of Abr 15 1920. A repair was made to the envelope at La Romana with the paper used tied by light blue-green handstamp, on return violet three-line ‘Received in bad condition at Dead Letter Office, San Juan, Porto Rico’.

(Sardinia) 1867 (31 Ago) bluish envelope registered to London franked by three 60c. (Sa T21) with each stamp cancelled by ‘187’ numerals, endorsed in manuscript “Raccomandata” and with framed Raccomandato handstamp, Palermo despatch cds bottom left, at base two-line Dopo La/ Partenza, red London arrival together with fair strike of rare SARDINIA/ crown/ REGISTERED handstamp.
