1940 (26.2.) registered cover used within Hamburg franked at 42pf. rate including 25 + 10pf. Nurburgring-Rennen overprinted Volkswagen marginal stamp. A difficult stamp commercially used.

1940 (3 NO) envelope with contents to Adelaide, South Australia bearing single franking 1930-39 15 mils tied bilingual Amman cds, violet hexagonally framed Passed By Censor/ Transjordan/ 1 alongside, reverse with further Amman cds of following day.

1940 (8 Dec) cover bearing three + 5Frs./ SPITFIRE values plus 25c. Waterfalls tied Nkongsamba Cameroun cds, framed illustrated ‘Journee Du Spitfire’ handstamp, these stamps were used towards the cost of purchasing the fighter plane for the Free French Airforce.

1940s illustrated envelope of 'THE HONG KONG MOTOR ACCESSORY CO LTD.' to New York with spark plug illustrated on front, reverse with enamel paint, wheel hub, Acme Paint and Oxidite Battery plus a radio.


1941 (21.II) cover to Hong Kong "British possession/ in St China", franked on reverse with four 1a tied hexagonal date stamps which is repeated on front, red censor tape that is tied on reverse with framed violet number handstamp, Victoria Hong Kong cds of same date, timed at 9am


1941 (28.III) cover to Hong Kong , franked on reverse with strip of four and single 1a tied hexagonal date stamps which is repeated on front, black censor tape that is tied on reverse with bright blue-green framed number handstamp ‘15’ , Victoria Hong Kong cds of 29th and also a cds tying the censor label of 31st, a further Hong-Kong cds at centre; good clean example.


1941 (4 Sep) censored airmail cover to Bombay, franked on reverse at 2a 3p by 1939 2a vermillion in combination with India 1937-40 3p. slate, tied by individual strikes of temporary EXPERIMENTAL P.O./ K-79 CDS, WITH Bahrain transit cds alongside. Resealed by red on white censor label that is tied on front. Some slight faults to envelope, a rare usage with the temporary cds in use 10 June to 30 Sept ’41 only.


1941 (5 Dec) airmail cover addressed to Hong Kong bearing single franking 9d. ‘Platypus’ tied Melbourne ‘BUY WAR SAVINGS CERTIFICATES’ machine slogan, censor handstamp at left tying tape, two-line violet NOT TRANSMISSIBLE/ SERVICE SUSPENDED handstamp at centre, reverse with red Dead Letter Office Sydney cds of 26.JA.42 and red ‘hand’ front and back. The Battle of Hong Kong started on 8th December so the mail became undeliverable whilst in transit.

1941 4p.50 postal stationery card up-rated 3p. to BAGHDAD, Iraq tied 'ALEY' cds, overstruck with arrival cds, at base violet framed censor cachet; fine commercial usage.


1942 (17 Mch) airmail cover to Irak, franked 5d. and 10d. tied Lymington wavy-line, OPENED BY EXAMINER 2,880 censor tape and a green label added returning item to sender, straight-line handstamp ‘POSTAGE REFUNDED’ across stamps. Included is small printed note stating the contents (probably photographs) is prohibited.
