1846 outer letter sheet to Jerez de la Frontera with straight-line YNDIAS handstamp and unaligned '5R' rating, reverse with Cadiz transit. Disinfected with large diagonal slit on reverse.

1846 outer letter sheet, provenance unknown, to Amsterdam bearing red oval maritime handstamp Zee Brief Den Helder, annotated “Per Maria Elisabeth/ Capt H.C. Wriborg/D.G.G.” (Whom God Guide), arrival backstamp.

1847 (14.10.) entire to Patras bearing circular framed ornate P.P., reverse with Syra transit and arrival cancels; a couple of light vertical filing creases otherwise fine

1847 (26 July) entire to Boston, endorsed bottom left “pr Schr Cutter”, sent unpaid with red New-York SHIP 7cts date stamp of Sep 17 (representing 5c. delivery to Boston and 2c, ship letter charge); light vertical filing crese, fine and fresh.


1847 and 1850 outer letter sheets to Habana both with Cardenas Isla De Cuba despatch date stamps in red and blue, both with matching ‘1’ handstamps.


1847 entire to Bordeaux, put into the British Post Office and bearing on reverse red unframed Porto Cabello date stamp, annotated to go via West Indies Packet. Front with framed London accountancy COLONIES/ &c ART.13, French entry cds for Boulogne, arrival backstamp.

1847 outer letter sheet to Trieste bearing two-lined ‘CONSTANTINOPLE’ handstamp, St Andrews Cross indicating payment to destination.


1848 (23 May) outer letter sheet to Habana with red Mariel Ila De Cuba despatch, rated ‘3’. Long endorsement on reverse with signature and unclear arrival cds; a scarce cancel.


1848 entire from Zante to Boston, United States endorsed “Via Marseilles” without any clear indication of despatch except for commercial chop top right, addressed care of forwarding agents in London whose blue ornate handstamp appears at base, red PAID date stamp of London and red ‘29’ US accountancy.

1848 miniature entire written from VESCOVO (Florence) to MARDIN (Kurdistan - now S.E. Turkey). The entire is written in arabic and has manuscript arrival notation. A very unusual and rare entire.

1848 part entire to Corrientes bearing small “2” in manuscript and red oval-framed Benta Gral/ De Correos/ De Buenos-Ayres, central vertical filing crease. There is a two-line endorsement at top that translates as ‘Long Live the Argentine Confederation! Death to the savage Unitarians!’


1848, 30kop red stationery envelope (140x116mm) with narrow tail eagle -WMK 1. Watermark i (position 4) where the location of the orb and scepter are in correct positions AS SEEN FROM THE FRONT OR ADDRESS SIDE. On the envelope (scepter to the left, orb to the right) from the way they appear in the actual coat of arms. Watermark positions referred to here are from the Faberge System of 8 positions. Cert. 1848. Postal Stationery envelope 20kopp blue (143x114mm) narrow tail eagle WMK 1 - reversed "Mirror " image. Watermark I (position 2) where the location of the orb and scepter are in opposite positions - AS SEEN FROM THE FRONT OR ADDRESS SIDE.


1849 (MY 8) envelope to London bearing fine strike of ‘s 1/-‘ accountancy handstamp (Proud A16), reverse with Kingston Jamaica double arc date stamp without index letter.

1849 King Leopold I0c brown horizontal pair, margin or right-hand stamp touched at base, otherwise clear. The left hand stamp shows doubling around the ‘0’ of ‘10’.


1849 outer letter sheet to Finland sent unpaid via Hamburg, showing various manuscript rate markings and a framed Obetalt.FR./ Dannemark/ H.Borg 17 Aug 49 handstamp, reverse with Copenhagen despatch and Stockholm transit; fine condition.

1849 outer letter sheet to RIGA bearing fine oval 'POST: NEUER MUEHLEN/18' date stamp with day, month and balance of year applied in manuscript, arrival backstamp; fine condition.
