Cape of Good Hope: 1847 outer letter sheet to London struck with the Cape Town Crowned oval handstamp (unclear date), leaving on 6th Jan via the “Planet”, arriving London 17th March. Landed at Deal and struck in black with INDIAN LETTER/ DEAL handstamp. A very late usage.
Greece 1909 picture postcard to Finland franked two 5L. tied BOSNIA Piroscafo Postale Itaiano cds with another strike alongside, redirected on arrival from Abo to Helsingfors.
HONG KONG : 1851 entire written from Canton to Georgetown, D.C., USA endorsed “Via Southampton” bearing central , somewhat faint Paid Crown Circle, to left of this two-line ‘SHIP LETTER/ VICTORIA-HONGKONG’, Red British PAID cds overstruck New-York 5cts cds, reverse with faint Hong Kong cancel; some oxidised reddish ink staining, an unusual combination of Ship Letter and Crown circle.
New South Wales: 1880 (JY 20) cover to England franked 8d. yellow-orange, perf 13, paying the ship letter rate, via Brindisi, from Sydney to England. Carried on the P&O Ship “S.S.Assam”; light vertical filing crease to left.
Scotland: 1768 entire from USA to Glasgow bearing endorsement of Captain bottom left, top left with partial strike of Pt. Glasgow/ Ship Letter handstamp. With message from a new arrival “We are now going up the river and I hope to be at Petersburg in a few hours...I like the country here very well”. A very early use of this ship letter mark.
Unclearly dated 1890s cover from Odessa to Chio, Turquie franked 10k. cancelled upon arrival by double oval ROPIT Agent V Khiosye, which is repeated to left. With letter. A couple of light stains at top otherwise good condition, scarce.
