1854 outer letter sheet to Revel, France bearing various manuscript rate markings and “per Plata”, red French entry cds at right, reverse with double arc St Thomas date stamp, overstruck by red Seebrief Per England und Aachen transit and Paris transit, arrival cds below.
1857 (23 Dec) unpaid entire with part contents to Constantinople, endorsed “voie de Trieste” bearing central St Gallen cds and a very fine strike of rare framed tax mark ‘3 – 5/ 2 – 20’ for 3 piastres 5 paras Swiss/Postal Union fee and 2 piastres 20 para postage beyond Trieste, to be paid by the recipient, reverse with Trieste Abends transit (26/12) and arrival cds of 8/1.
1859 cover addressed care of a Doctor at the British Museum, forwarded to Oxford, from St Petersbourg, Russia with diamond framed despatch on reverse which also displays a Gt Russell St, a red London and an Oxford cds, on forwarding envelope to Oxford a 1d. red has been added over ‘PORTO’ handstamp with fine ‘7 1/2 ‘ charge handstamp alongside. Torn bottom flap to envelope otherwise fine and scarce.
1859 outer letter sheet to London bearing ornate-framed PORTO, sent via Aachen where ‘7½ ‘ charge raised with handstamp, this has been crossed out and manuscript “11 ½” applied on arrival.
1860 entire from RIGA to ABERDEEN with Cyrillic despatch cds on reverse, together with LONDON transit and arrival cds, various manuscript rate markings plus '7½' accountancy handstamp.
1863 entire from Bombay to Bordeaux bearing framed 'INDIA UNPAID' handstamp, accountancy handstamp 'GB/1f80c', which has been erased and a new handstamp 'GB/1f62c' applied, reverse with red despatch cds and arrival cancels.
1865 (May 6) cover to Victoria, Canada bearing single franking 10c. tied target cancel with Tonawanda N.Y. date stamp alongside, U.S.10cts/Paid oval handstamp to right, reverse with arrival cancels; fine and attractive cross border rate cover.
1865 two entires from Odessa to Marseille each charged 11 decimes on arrival, bearing boxed 'Aus Russland' cachets and two different types of oval-framed 'Porto 3' handstamps.
1868 printed envelope to Rosario, Argentina franked 1861 3c., 10c. and 30c. cancelled by matching cork cancels, Boston despatch cds at right and red New York Paid All transit on reverse, front with unclear cancel and faint red 22 ½ accountancy. Adriatic’ with violet pen crosse and annotated in same ink at side “Shabbona Ill/ Sept 5/ 70”, the stamps additionally tied by large red ‘Wfro 2’ accountancy handstamp, New York 5 transit and Christiania cds of 25/9, reverse with red Sandosund arrival.
1870 entire to France bearing 2c ‘Post Horse and Rider’ pair tied segmented cork handstamp, a blue dated company handstamp at left and a red New York cds at right, oval-framed ‘GB/ 40c’ accountancy handstamp, London transit on reverse together with various French cds.
1870 entire to France bearing single franking 6c ‘Washington’ tied segmented cork handstamp, New Orleans despatch cds to left oversturck with oval framed accountancy ‘GB/40c’, New York transit bottom right and French entry cds from England at left, reverse with arrival backstamps; Attractive appearance but the stamp is creased.

1870 mourning wrapper from unknown South American provenance addressed to Paris, France, annotated to travel via the United States, the front bearing New York ‘12’ transit and faint London cds as well as fine diamond-framed accountancy ‘G.B./ 3f.60c., Calais A Paris tpo and rated ‘12’ decimes on arrival. Some damage to rear.
1870 wrapper put into the British post at Buenos Ayres, addressed to Naples. On reverse LONDON transit with their accountancy mark 'GB/1F60c' on the obverse alongside the subsequent French handstamp 'F.56'. Rated 10 decimes on arrival and 1L postage due affixed.
1872 (18 Nov) entire to Warsaw, Poland franked 1871-75 80c. rose tied by Paris star ‘22’ with cds alongside, framed PD and at bottom left ‘Wfr. 1½’ accountancy handstamp, arrival cancel top left.
1872 (26 Janv) outer letter sheet to Havre franked 1871 80c Laureated Napoleon and 1871 Ceres 20c and 40c tied by two MQE lozenges, Martinique St. Pierre cds to left ad at right red French Le Havre entry cds of 12 Fevr for mail arriving from England. The cover was collected by ‘Eider’ and delivered to St Thomas on 28th, transferred the next day to ‘Nile’ which arrived in Plymouth on 10th February. Margin faults to stamps, still an attractive early three colour franking, Ex Brian Brookes.
