1841 entire to Bath, rated “1/9” and bearing green undated Lisbon F handstamp applied on the Falmouth Packet, arrival backstamp; some slight faults to entire.


1841 entire to Vevey, Switzerland cancelled on reverse French language, unframed St. Petersbourg circular handstamp, FRANCO/ AUS RUSSLAND transit applied in Berlin whose cds is on reverse, arrival backstamp. An extremely rare St Petersburg postmark, not recorded in Dobin. Baillie & Peel 1F, the three examples they record are all to Bordeaux. A rarity.

1841 incoming entire from Livorno with despatch cds and company chop, reverse with good strike across flap of Local Post ’28 Oct 2d’ applied on arrival.

1841 large part outer letter sheet to Hertford, England bearing manuscript “2/3” rating with to left Carthagena fleuron, a transit handstamp used in Jamaica, reverse with unclear Kingston Jamaica date stamp, London transit; some slight faults, still a good example.


1842 entire from CONSTANTINOPLE to TRIESTE bearing on reverse extremely fine negative seal 'NETTO DI FUORA ET DI DENTRO' and with red wax seal 'Sigillium Sanitatis', arrival backstamp.

1842 entire to Cadiz, Spain with very fine cursive 'GIBRALTAR/PAID', manuscript "6" charge and red Spanish accountancy, arrival backstamp.

1842 incoming entire from Livorno, Italy, bearing no despatch cancel, on reverse arrival charge handstamp '24 JAN 2d', which straddles the join of letter; a good strike that shows outline of the handstamp used.

1842 printed entire to The Hague bearing large black Ongefrankeerd/ Zee Brief/ Sourabaya handstamp, to right red Zeebrief Den Helder date stamp, Batavia transit at centre, rated "60", red arrival backstamp; good condition.

1843 entire to London with manuscript “2/-“ rate marking on front, reverse with fine unframed Spanish Town date stamp, Proud D3, red arrival cds; fine and clean condition.

1844 (31/8) entire from Habana to Madrid bearing blue handstamp Correo Maritimo No.3 and framed arc FRANCO in same ink, annotated at base "Correp de la Empresa", disinfected with small slitting. Some wormholes and internal faults to entire, fine appearance.

1844 long cross-written entire from Spring Grove to Yorkshire bearing various manuscript rate markings, 'crown' framed oval CAPE OF GOOD HOPE date stamp, re-directed upon arrival to "Post Office, Filey" whose date stamp appears above, reverse with straight-line SHIP LETTER handstamp, red entry cds and green 'HULL' date stamp.

1845 (4th June) thick entire from Columbia, South Carolina, USA via Philadelphia via private ship, rated “1/6” for a double Ship Letter rate plus inland postage from St Ann’s to Mandeville of 2d. for a total charge of “1/8”, showing the only recorded ‘SHIP LETTER/ St ANNS’ handstamp that is not recorded in foster but in Proud SL1.
