1867 (Apr 17) orange-brown envelope to Killaloe, Co. Clare, Ireland bearing single franking 1861-62 24c. Washington brown-lilac tied by target cancel with Suspension Bridge N.Y. cds at right, red New York transit, part Liverpool cds, arrival backstamp. A couple of small ter in envelope and missing backflap.

1867 (Mar 9) envelope with series of long enclosures, datelined Panama to Winthrop, Maine franked 1861 10c. Washington pair tied by clear example N.York Steamship postmark; some slight faults to envelope.


1867 (March) printed prices current to Pernau, Estonia franked by a 4d. heavily cancelled with ‘9’ numeral of Dundee, red oval-framed PD, manuscript weiter franco 1¼ , reverse with Riga transit and arrival cds. The prices current is about Flax and Hemp and the difficulty of supply at this time of year with a frozen Baltic Sea. Part of top of entire missing.

1867 entire from Odessa with fine company chop bottom left, forwarded to Constantinople with agents handstamp at top, addressed to Palermo, sicily and carried on French ship with octagonal Constantinople P.Fr. U No.3, framed Italian PIROSCAFI/POSTALI/FRANCESI handstamp, reverse with Messina transit and arrival date stamps.

1867 envelope to Bordeaux franked ‘Eagle’ 10c. (touched margin) and a 40c. cancelled lozenge GOR in a blue-grey shade, Senegal Et Dept Gorce date stamp in same ink, Bordeaux maritime cancel below, the envelope being endorsed “paket francais”. With contents. Behr Certificate.

1867 outer letter sheet to Lyon franked ‘Sitting Helvetia’ 60c. tied by Geneva cds, unframed PD and red French entry cds Suisse Lyon, arrival backstamp.

1867 ‘Steamer and Eagle’ 10 para, vertical network, block of four with good to large margins all round cancelled with four blue retta cancels, the upper two stamps with ironed out horizontal creases (invisible from front), small pre-cuts between stamps, a very rare and attractive multiple, signed Pfenniger. Ex Faberge (1940), Dr Casey (2016) and Berg (2020).

1868 outer letter sheet to Taganrog franked by two 1865-67 2pi (SG 7) both with full margins, tied by faint strike of ‘780’ in truncated triangle of dots, with partly legible Smyrna cds (Tchil. Type 14) on reverse along with Smyrne company cachet, fine and rare, Mikulski Cert., Ex Dr. Casey.
