(Accident Mail) 1936 (Dec 1) cover addressed to Sudan Railways, Atbara, Sudan endorsed to travel by SS “Queen Mary”, the envelope sustaining damage en route across the Mediterranean on a French ship. The front with violet Bureau Ambulants Mediterranee cds of 11.12. and in same ink two-line DETERIORE par/ accident de Service, two examples on front and one on reverse tying the Post Office sealing tape, above this an Alexandria machine transit cancel. Stamp soaked off and some slight damage.
(Arctic Ship Mail) 1911 picture postcard to Karlsbad via Assern, Lifland, franked 3k Arms cancelled with oval 1st White Sea Steamship ‘a’. Ex Dr. Casey The message “I send greetings from the White Sea, D. Mikhail Kazi”. The ‘Michael Kasi’ is listed in Lloyd’s Register of Shipping as having belonged to Archangel-Murman Steam Navigation Company.
(Cavalla) 1907 picture postcard of Constantinople to United States franked on picture side with damaged 2k green tied by part violet oval ‘ROPIT AG KAVALLA’ with a further very fine strike on reverse, ROPIT SALONIKI transit cds at top applied in transit, Monongahela, PA arrival cds at top. Tchilinghirian records no cover known with this oval date stamp, the stamp is unfortunately damage but still an important item.
(China) 1920 commercial cover to Vladivostok with 1r. imperf strip of five and single paying the triple 2r. foreign rate current in Siberia from October 1919 to June 1920, tied by Vladivostok – Shanghai/ Steamship zh 22.2.20 date stamp in violet of the Russian Volunteer Fleet, with censor cachet on arrival; fine and attractive. The steamship cancel was the same in both directions, arrival backstamp of 28.2., six days later, consistent with posting at Shanghai.
(Corsica) 1880 outer letter sheet to Livorno posted on board a vessel at Bastia, franked with ‘Sage’ 5c. (2) and 15c., arrival backstamp and handstamp “coi Postale Francesci” on front to indicate transport by a non Italian postal vessel; fine and scarce.

(Disinfected Mail) 1871 outer letter sheet to Genova, franked ‘Bordeaux’ 20c. and 40c. with close to large margins, cancelled by ‘anchor’ lozenge, octagonal maritime Constantinople Paq. Fr. No.3 date stamp, framed PD, with two disinfection slits, reverse with Messina transit. A rare cover with a heavy central horizontal creasing.
(French Maritime Mail) 1870 (12 Mars) entire to Dijon, France bearing, at military concession rate, 20c Laureated Napoleon tied by anchor in dotted lozenge with Cor. D. Arm. Lig. T. Paq.Fr. no.2 cds at right, framed PD to right, reverse with Paris transit and arrival cds. A recently discovered cover from the Messageries Imperiales shipping agent in Mahe. The French Post Office at Mahe was open from 1864 to 1870, the agent corresponded back to France over this period. Of this correspondence of 11 covers only three bore French stamps.

Only three of these cachets are recorded on cover, and all in 1837
